Lyn has a wealth of experience in assisting researchers to develop techniques that will enhance both the quality and experience of their research. In particular, Lyn has considerable expertise in the use of software in the research process, and has facilitated numerous training courses in this area, both nationally and internationally. Lyn's background in Educational Psychology means that she has a thorough understanding of the learning process, and she enjoys meeting the needs of learners by using varied and innovative teaching methodologies. She has an outstanding reputation as a facilitator, giving participants the benefit of her responsive, flexible style and sense of humour. In addition to facilitating research training courses, Lyn works individually with a wide-range of clients, and also supervises the research projects that Academic Consulting is involved in. She also lectures a research methods paper on the Master of Bioscience Enterprise programme at The University of Auckland. Lyn's PhD was in Educational Psychology at The University of Auckland, and examined the instruction of self-regulated learning at a tertiary level.

Rachael Butler Researcher

Rachael joined Academic Consulting in March 2011. She originally trained as a qualitative researcher in the private sector, and held senior roles in companies in New Zealand and Scotland. Since 2002, she has primarily worked within academic research settings, where her research focus has been within the health sector. During this time she has gained significant experience in qualitative methodologies and is proficient in a range of research methods. Her on-going involvement in research complements her role at Academic Consulting where she contributes to a range of research services provided by the company (e.g. qualitative data analysis and report preparation), and facilitates NVivo software training both in-house and externally.

Helen Lavery Accounts Manager

As well as being one of our busiest Transcribers, Helen manages the payroll and invoicing at Academic Consulting. Helen has been with the company since 2006, with her previous work experience including various high-level administrative roles in the corporate environment, both here in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Sue Manson Research Assistant

Sue is an experienced Research Assistant, having joined Academic Consulting from the National Research Bureau. She assists on a range of client projects, mostly in regards to quantitative and qualitative data analysis, report writing, and editing/proofreading of theses and dissertations. She is competent with SPSS, NVivo, EndNote and a range of other research-related software. Sue holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Secondary) from The University of Auckland. She is presently enrolled in a Postgraduate Diploma of Social Science Research, and hopes to pursue a future career as a Researcher.

Marie Moodie Quality Control/Data Entry Assistant
Marie joined Academic Consulting having held several corporate administrative positions. As well as performing data entry duties, Marie is responsible for ensuring that our transcripts are of a high standard. She has a Bachelor of Performing Arts, so when not working, she is busily involved with playwriting activities.

Korina Tuahine Office Manager

Korina is the Office Manager at Academic Consulting and the friendly face that greets you when you visit our premises in Newmarket. Initially employed as a part-time transcriber in 2007, Korina is now also responsible for the day-to-day running of the company. She has a Bachelor of Performing and Screen Arts and enjoys being a budding playwright in her spare time.

Donna Watson Researcher

Donna joined the team at Academic Consulting in August, 2011. Her key role is the management of the transcription division, and the provision of research services including data analysis, report writing, editing, and proofing. Donna's research background is in tobacco control and cessation (with a particular focus on improving health outcomes for Maori and Pacific peoples) and in positive psychology (particularly young people's wellbeing). She is experienced in a range of research-related activities including study management, data collection (e.g., conducting interviews and focus groups, psychometric testing), questionnaire and online survey design, data analysis and report writing.
