All of our training courses can be offered in house, for your research team or institution. A full listing of all our courses, and their content, can be found on our Course Outlines page. Please browse this to assist you in deciding which course would best suit your needs, and feel free to contact us if you would like to discuss course content further.

Maximum Class Size

All our computer-based classes have a maximum class size of twelve participants. This is in order to maximise learning opportunities for those attending. If you require more than twelve participants to attend your in-house course, then please contact us to discuss this, as it may be possible for us to arrange a second instructor for the day.

Provision of Equipment/Resources

If we are facilitating one of our courses at your site, then we will require:

  • Desktop or laptop computers for each person participating, preferably with an internet connection.
  • The relevant software for the training session must be installed and tested, well in advance of the course date. Please note that you will be responsible for ensuring that all software installed is appropriately licensed. In the case of NVivo and PASW (SPSS), demonstration versions of the software can be installed for the purposes of training (click on the links to visit the vendor’s websites).
  • A data projector should also ideally be provided, although we can provide one if requested (Auckland courses only).
  • Photocopying of training notes for each participant (a master copy of these will be provided by Academic Consulting at least one week before the course date).
  • Catering for course participants (optional).

Note that for courses held outside of Auckland, we will make our own travel arrangements, and do not require this as part of our arrangements with clients.

Dates

Training dates are obviously dependent on the availability of our training staff, but we are usually reasonably flexible given sufficient notice (2-3 months is ideal). Courses can often be arranged on shorter notice, but this may restrict the range of available dates.

Course Customisation

We are happy to customise the content of any of our courses in order to suit the needs of your research team. Please discuss this with us at the time of making your booking.

Training Fees and Contractual Arrangements

Training fees are quoted on a case by case basis, and are dependent on the nature of the course, the location, customisation of course content required etc. Please contact us to receive a quote for your requirements. Please note that for courses outside of Auckland, our fees are inclusive of all travel arrangements.

Once we have arranged the training dates, course content, and relevant costs, we will send you a formal Contract for Service that will detail the arrangements. Once this is signed by the relevant parties, we will send an invoice for the training fees.

Training fees must be paid in advance of the training date in order to confirm the booking. This is a non-negotiable policy, and thus should be kept in mind when booking training dates, in order to allow time for invoice processing.
