10 Things You Wished You Learned Years Ago About MS Word (Thurs 9th February, 4-5pm)
One of the problems with Microsoft Word is that we're often self-taught users, and therefore "don't know what we don't know". This workshop covers the ten favourite features of Word that we couldn't live without – you'll wish you'd learned them years ago!

Tips and Tricks for Conducting Qualitative Interviews (Thurs 8th March, 4-5pm)
This seminar will provide some useful pointers for researchers collecting data via qualitative interviews. Targeted at budding qualitative researchers – or those looking to brush up on their interviewing skills – a mix of practical tips and helpful advice will be presented, ranging from the structure and wording of questions through to the management of ‘difficult’ respondents.

Coding Smarter (Thurs 15th March, 4-5pm)
While many NVivo users have a good grasp of the basics when it comes to coding, they can sometimes become overwhelmed with the level of data they are working with - and how to manage the overall coding process. In this seminar we will provide some useful guidance on how to code 'smarter', as a way of assisting researchers in working more efficiently with NVivo.

Things We've Learned as Qualitative Researchers (Thurs 5th April, 4-5pm)
Academic Consulting staff have extensive qualitative research experience, and have assisted a wide range of qualitative researchers over a number of years. In this seminar we will present some of the most useful things we've learnt in relation to conducting qualitative research, including strategies for enhancing the researcher experience, as well as the data collection, analysis, and writing-up phases of a qualitative study.

I've Done My Coding in NVivo ... Now What? (Thurs 19th April, 4-5pm)
This is one of our most commonly asked questions by NVivo users. It's easy to get so caught up in the coding process that you lose sight of the other analysis tools NVivo has to offer. This seminar will discuss and demonstrate features such as queries, the modeller, and various techniques for reporting. Taking output from NVivo and into the writing process will also be covered.

Training - Client Testimonials

so-q The instructor was dynamic, friendly, and professional. She was also a very good teacher and imparted information clearly and appropriately. Can't speak highly enough of her. sc-q - Introduction to SPSS

so-q Once again Lyn has done a marvellous job. The SPSS course this morning was excellent. This is the third time I've been to one of her sessions, and every time she is superb. sc-q - SPSS Intermediate

so-q May I thank you most sincerely for an excellent course over the past two weekends. Getting motivated for weekend study in front of computers doing statistics was not easy for someone like me, but I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the work and most of all learned a great deal relevant to my current research project. sc-q - Statistics for Data Analysis

so-q Lyn has an easy manner that doesn't make any one person feel awkward about asking for help. The clear layout of the handout means that I will easily be able to pick up the software at a later date and I have confidence now that I will be able to achieve this. sc-q - Introduction to SPSS
