Answer

Yes you can. Save your MS Excel file and then close the file. Return to PASW (SPSS) and choose File > Open > Data from the menu bar. If your file doesn't show in the 'Open' dialog box, try changing the 'Files of Type' option to 'All Files'.

When you attempt to open your file, an import wizard will appear that will ask you a series of questions - if variable names are at the top of your MS Excel file then make sure you tell PASW that. Once the import wizard is finished, your MS Excel file will appear in PASW.

Keep in mind that you can also do a simple copy and paste from MS Excel to PASW, but your variable names will not transfer over if you do so. Also note that this copy and paste feature is not available in some of the recent versions of PASW.
