An EndNote style states how the citations and reference list/bibliography should be formatted. The recent versions of EndNote have over 2000 styles. When choosing a style you need to be familiar with the requirements of your discipline. For example, disciplines such as Psychology and Education, as well as some departments in Medicine or Business, generally use APA format (the referencing guidelines of the American Psychological Association). Other disciplines use well-known styles such as MLA, Chicago or Harvard. While you can locate styles in EndNote by discipline (assuming yours is listed) it still helps to know the actual name of your style in order to be able to choose it in EndNote’s alphabetical list of styles.
